What’s an RTT session like?
I met Chris the first time in high school and met her again through Facebook. We planned a vacation to England in 2012 and she made time to meet up with us and since then our friendship has grown.
She has always had this focus on helping people be the best they can be and she told me she was taking the RTT courses. I didn’t know much about it but as she began to see clients I would see posts of individuals having great success.
I have really struggled with the political changes in my country and the uncertainty of the futures. I could tell that I needed help in managing these changes in a healthier way. I looked up RTT and liked what I read. Also, having had counselling in the past I wasn’t interested in spending a year going over my childhood. I wanted a cleaner process that would help me calm my mind.
I reached out to Chris and we discussed the process, hypnosis, and setting up a therapy session and I also had to fill out an intake form.
It’s a very vulnerable feeling to go to a friend and know that the session may bring out the deepest, yuckiest parts of your life. But, from what I had read and learned from our discussion I felt it was worth it. I also trust Chris, I know her character, she is a good person.
The hypnosis part:
I wasn’t sure what to expect, I think this is scary for most people, probably from what we have seen in movies. It is a bit like meditating, a very calm feeling, you know you can get up and use the bathroom if you need to but you are relaxed and the swirling thoughts in your mind slow way down. As Chris speaks certain experiences and feelings come to you and you discuss them. These experiences and feelings are why you are currently having difficulties. You work through them with Chris and she makes a meditation recording.
After the session I felt amazing! Like a huge weight off of my shoulders. I went outside and saw a golden finch, a sign of joy. As I listed to the recording each day I felt better and better. Chris checks in with you regularly and during a check in, I identified an additional issue that needed help and she made a new recording.
It is amazing how more at peace I feel in spite of everything going on right now, the pandemic, the US elections, etc. I feel like my mind is dealing with all of it in a much healthier way.
